Human Trafficking in New Jersey.

Human trafficking is a hidden crime that affects New Jersey more than you might think. While the victims are often invisible, the impacts are devastating and far-reaching. There are several forms of Human Trafficking. One of them is a form of modern slavery in which people are exploited for labor or commercial sex. It is estimated that 24.9 million people worldwide are trafficked annually, most of whom are women and children. In 2017 alone, there were 853 reported cases of human trafficking in the U.S., with 153 occurring in New Jersey alone. This is an extremely high number for our State considering that these numbers reflect only reported cases; experts estimate that the actual number could be much higher.

I just wrapped up my quarterly retreat with my business mastermind in Phoenix. And while I was the only lawyer in the room, I wasn’t the only entrepreneur who struggles with mindset issues and childhood trauma that affects how I show up every day; especially in my business. If I’m honest, it is much easier for me to help my clients through issues than it is for me to help myself.

This week I felt so blessed to be recognized by the National Hook-Up of Black Women (NHBW). This is an organization that serves so many women and children throughout the country through scholarships and programs that address teen pressure, domestic violence and so much more. I am so honored that they value the work I do and the people I serve. But, I was even more honored to be able to celebrate this with my family- especially my children.
